Britain, Australia and New Zealand have accused Russia’s military intelligence for carrying out a worldwide campaign of ‘malicious’ cyber-attack. This also includes the hacking of US Democratic National Committee of 2016.
In a statement released on Thursday, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said that the county’s National Cyber Security Centre found that Russian GRU intelligence service operators has Cyber-attacks believed at the global economic Millions of dollars.
Australia and New Zealand have released the same report where they found Russia’s involvement in political, business, media and sporting institutions.
The Diplomatic relations between Russia and Britain have been collapsed after the poisoning of Russia’s double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the British city of Salisbury earlier this year. The authorities of UK have accused GRU of using military grade nerve agent and attacked Skripal and other Russian former agent.
The four alleged attacks
The Bad Rabbit is a ransomware attack of 2017 that spreads through Russia and Ukraine and around the world. It involved threatening of users’ files and computer access in exchange of ransom.
The WADA attack involves release of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) for sports star. It included American four-time Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles as well as tennis sisters Williams.
All three countries have determined Russia hacking the Democratic National Convention at 2016 Presidential elections. This let to release of private mails and notes that also belonged to Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta.
TV station attack
The statements accused by Russia of stealing all the content and illicitly accessing mail accounts from UK based TV station in 2015 July and August. This station is not named.
